- basic needs-  certain things, such as food, water, air, and shelter, that a living thing                                    needs to survive

- nutrients-  substances that help plants grow

-survive- to stay alive 

-lungs-  the part of some animals that help them breathe by taking in oxygen from

               the air

-gills-  the part of some animals that take in oxygen from the water

-shelter-  a safe place to live

-environment-  all the living and nonliving in a place

-habitat-  the place where a living thing finds food, water, and shelter
